Kim Nana & Lee Yoon Sung - Ending Continuation Fanfic - Chapter 6

“But carrots are good for you!” Nana argued while holding a carrot.

“Aish! I hate carrots, put it away.” Yoon Sung threw the carrot back into the grocery table it came from. He walked away from the vegetables section of the grocery store and headed for the meats.

Nana rolled her eyes in disapproval. How can he reject vegetables like that? She took the carrots back and hid them underneath the two bags of chips in the shopping cart. She was going to make him eat these carrots no matter what.

Nana smiled devilishly to herself and pushed the cart towards Yoon Sung.

“This, this, and this…” Yoon Sung took the biggest portion of wrapped pork, beef, and chicken from the freezer and put them all into the shopping cart.

“You are insane!” Nana exclaimed in frustration. She swore that when they have kids one day, they would probably spend all of Yoon Sung’s inherited money on food. Just the two of them alone ate so much food, it was ridiculous. But eating so much meat and no vegetables is not good for one’s health. “Lee Yoon Sung, you are so childish! We are NOT eating all of that meat but no vegetables at all.” Nana placed the wrapped trays of meat back into the freezer. “We’ll get them in smaller portions.” She suggested as she got the other portions available.

Yoon Sung sighed. He knew he had to obey to Nana’s orders. “Can we get some candy? Or chips… oh! Crackers?” He suggested.

“No, we’re getting vegetables.” She dragged Yoon Sung and commanded him to watch the shopping cart. “I’m picking them out.” Nana got some Bok Choy and other green vegetables, bean sprouts, and onions. Yoon Sung looked at his girlfriend in admiration. Yes, he has had girlfriends in the past, but they were all just flings and little crushes. He loved Nana. Although he had only known her for a little less than a year (but had been talking to her picture for 7 years), he knew, if anything painful happened to Nana, he would rather it happen to himself. He could never see Nana hurt and would never hurt Nana either.

“We need a small bottle of soysauce.” Nana said to Yoon Sung. “Over there.” She walked beside the shopping cart, leading him to the sauces section. After the soysauce, Nana was like a rocket at blast off, she gathered all the ingredients they needed in ten minutes while Yoon Sung was getting ordered around on where to push the cart.

“That’s it.” Nana sighed out of relief. “I’m gonna make something extremely delicious for you!” She grinned at Yoon Sung lovingly.

Yoon Sung was genuinely surprised at how fast Nana could gather all these ingredients. She got all the essentials for Korean food and all the extra ingredients for a particular dish. She even got packets of his favorite brand of coffee.

“Come on, let’s check out.” Nana lowered her height to go underneath Yoon Sung’s arm and into the gap between the shopping cart and his body, pushing the cart with him and in front of him. He smiled and continued to push the cart, still seeing with a perfect view in front of him due their height difference. He could see completely fine over her head.

“Hello, did you find everything you needed?” The cashier asked politely.

“Yes.” Yoon Sung replied involuntarily.

As Yoon Sung was distracted getting the other things inside the cart onto the conveyor belt, Nana handed the carrots to the cashier and put her pointer finger vertically against her lips, symbolizing silence. The cashier smiled and nodded at Nana while she scanned the carrots quickly, placing it into the plastic bag.

“Your total is 60,000.” [Note: I don’t really know how much groceries would cost in Seoul so… I just kind of guessed.]

Yoon Sung took out his wallet and chose a credit card swiftly. Before he could hand it to the cashier, Nana stopped him from doing so. “I’ll pay.” She insisted. One, she didn’t want to owe Yoon Sung even more for all the things he had done already. Two, she didn’t want him to see the receipt and throw away the carrots.

Yoon Sung tried to extend his arm over Nana’s and reach the cashier. “No, I’ll pay.”

The cashier took Nana’s cash and smiled. “Thank you, miss.” She quickly counted some change and also handed the receipt to Nana. “Here’s your change and have a good evening.”

Nana smirked at Yoon Sung victoriously. “I won.”

“Gom [Bear] Nana, I think you keep forgetting… you’re a woman in the relationship.” Yoon Sung argued. “Don’t women like it when men pay?”

“So? Don’t you like strong, independent woman?” Nana smiled at him.

“So… do you want me to chop the onions?” Yoon Sung asked ignorantly. Ahjussi was always around to cook him delicious food. So he never really had an interest in cooking nor had he ever really cooked anything besides ramen before.

“Yes. I already told you three times. I want you to chop the onions” Nana said as she stir fried some vegetables together.

“How do you chop onions?” Yoon Sung chopped it in half and then took the onion up close to study it.

“Don’t do that, your eyes will water!” Nana motioned for him to lower the onion to the table. “Get a big bowl, put water in it and chop the onions in the bowl. Chop it quick so you don’t tear up.”

As Nana returned her attention to cooking, her finger accidentally touched the stove. Exclaiming in pain while holding her finger, Yoon Sung reacted by dropping his knife on the floor.

“Gwaen-chana [Are you okay]?” Yoon Sung scrutinized her finger closely. He led Nana to the couch and searched around the room for bandaids. Finally grabbing the bandaids and toothpaste, he sat down on the floor across from Nana. “Give me your hand.”

Nana extended her arm towards Yoon Sung obediently. Her finger still had a slight burning pain. Assuming Yoon Sung knew what to do, she listened to him.

“You have to be careful.” Yoon Sung reminded her. “I get worried when you’re hurt.” He put some toothpaste on her finger. “Toothpaste is good to relieve burns.” He had learned that from all the eclectic injuries he had gotten in the past.

Although Nana was hurt, she observed Yoon Sung’s worried expression and cautious care he had for her. “You have to be careful as well.” She said back. “I too get worried when you’re hurt.”

Yoon Sung looked up to find Nana’s unfeigned eyes. “Don’t worry about me.” He said. “There’s too much to worry about when it comes to me.”

“Lee Yoon Sung, I love you. Therefore I worry about you… all the time.”

Yoon Sung looked back down at her hand and changed the subject. “Sit here and wait a little bit until your burn cools down, and then wrap a bandaid around your finger.” He got up and went back to the kitchen. “I’ll try to finish what you were cooking.”

Nana nodded and was fine with the idea until a second later. Omo… Yoon Sung’s gonna know I was cooking with carrots! “NO!” Nana cried aloud. “I was cooking that!” She ran toward the kitchen before Yoon Sung could see what was on the wok. “You won’t be able to cook it well.” She lied.

“It was almost done cooking anyway. I just had to transfer it onto a plate, right?” He questioned her.

“No, this is a very special dish. I, Kim Nana, must cook it all by myself.”

“Ooh, sounds good… what is it?”

“Something you’ll love.” Nana smirked.

“This looks so delicious!” Nana smelled the food they cooked as she sat across from Yoon Sung at the small table.

Nana quickly got some of the stir fried vegetables using her chopsticks and attempted to feed it to Yoon Sung.

Yoon Sung noticed the lack of meat and the excess use of vegetables in the special dish and immediately backed up from the food. “You know I hate vegetables!”

“Just try it!” Nana smiled.

Yoon Sung reluctantly accepted her offer of food and as he chewed the food, he could taste something that wasn’t pleasant… carrots. “You used carrots!” Yoon Sung complained. He rushed over to the trashcan and spit it out. “There’s nothing I hate more than carrots in this world!”

“They’re good for you!” Nana argued. “Come on, just try it one more time. I purposely made them delicious so that you’d eat them. I stir fried it with other vegetables.”

“No, I hate carrots.” Yoon Sung continued to be difficult while sitting back down in the chair.

“I spent time thinking about how to make carrots taste better just to please your taste.” Nana said. “So you better eat it.”

“No, I hate carrots and will never eat them.”

What could I do to make this man to just eat carrots? Nana thought. Who knew such a strong and adroit man would be so picky at something so little? “If you eat carrots today, I will buy you a gift.”

“I can buy myself a gift. I don’t need your gifts.” Yoon Sung stayed stoic. He didn’t want to give in. He hated carrots and would not eat carrots. Unless… “There is actually one thing that can make me eat carrots…”

“What is it?” Nana grinned hopefully.

Yoon Sung stood up and walked towards Nana on the opposite side of the table, pushed Nana’s chair back, then hovered over her.

Nana backed up further slowly. “What are you doing…”

Yoon Sung ignored her question, leaned down and tilted his head to meet Nana’s lips with his. He moved his hand under her chin and held her chin up to his as he deepened the kiss by opening his mouth.

Nana smiled within the kiss and responded by opening hers as well, allowing him to take control of the kiss.

They continued to kiss until they were both out of breath. Nana pulled away and reminded him. “How about you pay me one million won?”

“Do those rules still apply now that you’re my girlfriend?” Yoon Sung glanced at the ‘rules’ on the refrigerator door.

“I’ll let you get away with it this time if you eat the carrots I cooked…” Nana scooted her chair back towards the table. “So go sit back in your seat and eat these vegetables.”

“Alright fine. I keep my promises so I’ll do it.” Yoon Sung went back over to his chair and used his chopsticks to eat some of the vegetables with his rice.

“See, it’s not so bad!” Nana smiled as she ate her food as well.

He shrugged and continued to eat. “It’s alright, I guess.”

“It’s good, isn’t it? You just won’t admit it!” Nana said enthusiastically.

“No it’s not.” Yoon Sung said stubbornly. “Anything with carrots in it will never taste good.” He ate more of the vegetables aloofly. He didn’t want to admit that Nana had won. She had actually made carrots, the one food he despised most, to taste pretty good.
