Kim Nana & Lee Yoon Sung - Ending Continuation Fanfic - Chapter 15

“Umma…” Yoon Sung walked to the living room of his gigantic house.

“Yoon Sung-ah?” His mother looked up from the TV.

“Our lawyer just told me the lawsuit is dropped…”

“Omo [Oh my gosh]… really?” Ahjumma stood up to face his son.

“Yeah, it’s a good thing but I don’t understand why it got dropped so easily… the complaint was dropped with the other side’s lawyer saying that it was just a misunderstanding. They had actually gotten sick from home cooked foods.”

“So what do we do now…?”

“Well… there’s nothing more we can do here. We can just stay here for maybe three or four more days and go back.” Yoon Sung said. “But this situation is just odd…”

“Regardless, the complaint is not dropped, so you can relax, son.” Ahjuma flashed her familiar warm smile at him.

“I guess so…” Yoon Sung was starting to suspect this might have all been a trap. Was something set up for him here in the US? Is someone just trying to get him to return?
Walking back into his room, he thought in confusion. This was all too weird to be a coincidence. Someone was behind this and someone wanted him to return to America. Who? The Thai men? Have they already found out he hid in Seoul? But wouldn’t it be much easier for the men to just go to Seoul and take care of him? Why New York? Was he over-thinking?

He didn’t want to think anymore. He was so tired of thinking— thinking about City Hunter and his past life. He didn’t want to care anymore. All he wanted to do was start over. That was genuinely what he wanted. Nothing else but to just erase his past and everything dealing with Father. Those memories haunted him even when he wanted to let go.

Grabbing his iPad, he took advantage of the use of Facetime and called Nana. He wanted to see her face. It had only been 2 days but seeing her face would soothe him.

As Nana picked up the phone and activated her camera, she waved at Yoon Sung. “Yoon Sung!” Her smile plastered across his screen.

“Did Eun Jung cook you anything to eat?”

Nana laughed. “Why would Eun Jung cook me something? She is the world’s most horrible cook. I can cook much better than she can! I actually cooked for her.”

“Yah! What is that Kang Eun Jung doing? I told her to take care of you…”

“Having her ‘take care of me’ is just as bad as having Blackie [Nana’s dog] take care of me… Don’t worry; I’m fine on my own. You worry too much… like an old lady…” She joked.

“An old lady? You obviously don’t know who you’re insulting… I’m Lee Yoon Sung, possibly the most attractive man in the Seoul.”

“You wish you were.” Nana laughed, even though deep inside, she knew how attractive Yoon Sung was, and could not disagree. “Anyway… today, I went to Sae Hee unni’s place and got Blackie back!” She moved her iPhone towards the dog and showed Yoon Sung Blackie sleeping on the floor.

“That dog is useless… why did you want him back? He poops everywhere and doesn’t bark at dangerous strangers.”

“Aigoo [An expression similar to sighing]… you’re just no fun...” Nana sighed.

“Anyway… so I’m coming back sooner than planned.” Yoon Sung broke the news to Nana.

“Really? Why?”

“I’m coming back in 2 or 3 days… because the complaint was dropped.”

“Dropped? How come?” She showed concern in her voice. “I mean it’s a good thing but that’s just strange… that it got dropped so fast…”

“That’s what I think too. I find it really odd… I’m not sure if someone’s actually behind this and setting it up as a trap for me to return to the US…”

There was an uncomfortable silence between the two as Nana’s expression turned from lighthearted to worried.

“Please come back to Seoul…” She said, breaking the silence.

“I’ll figure something out; don’t be too worried yet…” Yoon Sung responded.

“I’m sick of thinking about how much danger you’ll be in, Yoon Sung. I’m done with all that. I just want to know that everyday you’ll be safe. But I can’t. I don’t have the blessing to know that the man I love, the father to my unborn child, is actually safe at any given time. Even when I dream, I have almost stopped dreaming about my parent’s car accident. Instead, my nightmare is now the scene of you getting shot by your father because you dodged a bullet for the president. That same scene replays in my nightmares. I’m sick of it. I don’t want to worry about your safety even when I’m sleeping. I just want you to be here, to start over, and to… take care of me and the baby…”

“You think I don’t want to? I want to start over too!” Yoon Sung said. “I don’t want to talk about this through the phone. We’ll talk about this later.”

“I hope you took my words seriously. I mean it, Yoon Sung. I’m sick of it.” Nana sighed.

“We’ll talk about this when we get back. But in the meantime, can you help me with something?”

Although Nana was still in a slightly angry state, she didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to be able to help Yoon Sung. “What is it?”

“Can you go visit your Aunt who works in the Prosecution office?”

“Why…?” Nana asked.

“I just want to see what they’re up to and you’re the only person that has an excuse to visit.” Yoon Sung said. “I feel like they might be behind this because a suspicious couple was following me the day I arrived. They were of Korean descent and boarded the plane with me. The only other place I could associate with about the concern of my identity is the prosecution department.”

Nana smiled and answered, “Of course; as long as you would like my help.”
__

“Imo [Aunt]!” Nana surprised her Aunt (Kim Mi Ok) by walking into her office.

“Omo… how’d you get in?” Her aunt stood up in shock.

“Jang Pil Jae ssi let me in.” Nana knew how easily tricked and gullible Jang Pil Jae was.

“Oh…” Her aunt spoke. “So what are you here for?”

“I just wanted to visit you since I haven’t been talking to you for a while.” Nana walked over to her desk. “So how’s work?”

Kim Mi Ok quickly closed up some of the files on his table since they were related to Lee Yoon Sung and smiled. “Oh just the usual…”

“Any interesting investigations?”

Kim Mi Ok laughed nervously. “No… it’s been quite boring here actually… since the prosecutor’s death…”

There was an awkward silence between the two as Nana could see her aunt glance down at Nana’s stomach. Nana placed her hand on her stomach and laughed. “Imo… why are you looking at my stomach?” Did Imo know about my pregnancy already? How could she possibly know?

“I was just noticing how skinny you are…” Her aunt laughed. “Have you been eating well?”
“I’m Kim Nana, if I don’t eat well, I would die!” Nana joked.

Nana looked around the office and innocently picked up one of her Aunt’s folders. “Oooh, what cases are you guys working on?” Nana was about to open it but her aunt immediately snatched it away from her.

“It’s better that you don’t look at it…” Kim Mi Ok laughed nervously. “Why don’t you take a seat over there?”

Nana nodded and walked over to the chair next to a circular table. Nana sat there in silence and glanced around in boredom. “Is there a bathroom I can use?”

Kim Mi Ok looked at Nana and laughed. “Of course! Walk down the hall and turn left.”

“Alright.” Nana got up and headed towards the bathroom.
__

Eun Jung had finally made up her mind. She didn’t need to quit her job. And she didn’t have to betray her family. She just needed a break and she needed to tell Prosecutor Jang that.

Walking towards the prosecution office, she took a deep breath and pushed open the front door.

Her heels clicked against the floor when she carelessly ran into Jang Pil Jae. “I’m sorry, Pil Jae!”

“It’s okay.” He shrugged and looked up, realizing this was Eun Jung. “Omo… hide!”

“Wait, why? Why do I need to hide?! I’m so confused…” She asked as Jang Pil Jae ushered her outside.

“KIM NANA IS HERE.” He whispered in panic.

Eun Jung widened her eyes in shock and immediately made her way outside. How would I explain myself if Nana saw me here?

Eun Jung finally made it out the front door but it was too late. She turned around and found Nana standing behind her.

“Nana... what are you doing here?” Eun Jung asked nervously.

“Omo… Eun Jung-ah! What are you doing here?” Nana asked Eun Jung in shock.

Eun Jung looked around and laughed nervously. She quickly thought of a lie and used it to cover up. “Do you know Jang Pil Jae ssi?”

“Jang Pil Jae ssi? He works here.” Nana answered.

“Yeah! I met him… at a club the other night. He gave me his number and told me to come here.”

Jang Pil Jae immediately turned around after he had heard Eun Jung’s embarrassing lie. “What—”

“Oh! Pil Jae ssi! Remember? You told me to wait outside your office around lunch time!” Eun Jung went up next to Jang Pil Jae and linked her arm with him.

Nana stood awkwardly in a confused state as she tried to get things straight. “So you know Jang Pil Jae?”

“I mean, he bought me a drink and we talked and instantly clicked!” Eun Jung continued to lie.

“Oh.” Nana was a bit unsure. Is Eun Jung telling the truth? But why would she lie anyway? Making up her mind, Nana decided to let it go for now. There was no reason for her to lie anyway… was there? “That’s cute…”

“I know right?” Eun Jung smiled. “But how do you know Pil Jae ssi?” Of course Eun Jung knew that Nana had met Jang Pil Jae before. But she had to act like she didn’t.

As Nana explained to Eun Jung about how she used to know Prosecutor Kim Young Joo and came to visit Aunt Mi Ok. Eun Jung pretended to have not already known all the information.

“I’m gonna go now, sorry to disturb you and Jang Pil Jae ssi…” Nana apologized.

“It’s okay! I didn’t know you knew him as well.”

“I’m gonna go home now, Eun Jung. Are you coming home for dinner tonight?”

“Yes. We can eat together. Just the two of us.” Eun Jung smiled.

“Okay. Sounds like a plan.” Nana started to walk off. “See you later!”

Kim Nana & Lee Yoon Sung - Ending Continuation Fanfic - Chapter 14

Nana stood in front of Yoon Sung at his terminal and sighed. “Don’t rush anything. Take your time to settle things.” She said. “Abba [Dad], don’t rush because of me, I’ll be waiting patiently.” Nana pointed to her stomach and said in a slightly higher baby voice.

Yoon Sung laughed at Nana and slightly touched her stomach. “I’ll be back in a week or two hopefully.”

Nana was really enjoying the way they have handled her pregnancy. At first, Yoon Sung was still a bit uneasy with the fact that he was going to be a father. But after a day of thinking, he started taking the news more positively. Thus changing Nana’s mood drastically back to normal. The only thing Nana was very worried about was marriage. She was afraid the baby would rush him into marriage and rush them both into marriage when they were still not ready. But then again, they weren’t ready for a baby either.

“Yah, be careful. Don’t show off your Judo moves too much, it might hurt the baby. I asked Eun Jung to look after you.”

“Why would I have to use my Judo flips on anyone when you’re not here? You’re the only one that I use it on…” Nana laughed. “And plus, I’m a grown adult, I think I can look after myself…”

“You’re carrying a child though.” He retorted.

Nana grinned at Yoon Sung as he pulled her into a hug. “I will be back in at most 3 weeks…” Yoon Sung said while stroking her long hair in an embrace.

“Don’t worry about me. You think I can’t handle being away from you? I’m much tougher than that.” Nana hugged him back.

“I’m about to board my plane so I have to leave.” He looked down.

“I hope you arrive safely.” Nana smiled at Yoon Sung and planted an unexpected kiss on his lips. It was a sweet kiss. It wasn’t one of those passionate kisses or very sloppy and heated kisses. It was just a lip to lip soft and sweet kiss. Nana wasn’t a big fan of PDA (Public Display of Affection) but she knew it was in her place to give him a kiss. That was the least she could do for him.

In all honesty, Nana knew she wasn’t going to miss Yoon Sung too much. She had survived 28 years without Yoon Sung and one week wouldn’t kill her. She wasn’t one of those girls that couldn’t survive without a man. She was better than that. She didn’t worry about herself. She worried about Yoon Sung. Just like how he wouldn’t come home when they first started living together (before they started dating), she would get worried. She wanted to know what he was doing all the time. She didn’t want to lose him.

Yoon Sung pulled away and smiled at her. A genuine and true smile. He hugged her briefly for a few seconds and finally spoke. “I have to go now. It’s only going to be one or two weeks.” He let go of her and started to back up a bit.

“I’ll be fine.” And Nana was speaking the truth. She didn’t feel upset. She didn’t feel any negative feelings actually. But she knew it was going to hit her when she couldn’t find him in the house tomorrow morning. She would eventually miss him, maybe not much because she expected his return. But just a little.

Nana walked over to Ahjumma who was next to Ahjussi, waiting for them to say their goodbyes and gave her a tight hug. “Go safely, Ahjumma.”

“I will, Nana.” Ahjumma gave her that motherly and warm smile. “Take care of Yoon Sung.” Nana whispered to her. “He might miss me a lot but won’t admit it.” Nana laughed a little.
Nana realized Yoon Sung had gotten better at admitting his feelings lately. He was not as isolated and cold anymore. She realized something that had changed ever since she met him in the airport. He no longer hid anything. He was free. He looked free. He was still the same old cocky but respectful Yoon Sung but had become a lot happier, like a knot had been untied.

Nana waved her goodbye at both Yoon Sung and Ahjumma along with Shik Joong Ahjussi. Ahjussi wasn’t going with them this time. And he was still staying at a hotel in Seoul. Even though he insisted on staying at an old friend’s place, Yoon Sung wouldn’t allow it because his old friends were all gamblers and drunks. He didn’t want Ahjussi to get into gambling like he use to again. Nana realized it was about time to return to America. They had to return soon. Ahjussi couldn’t stay in a hotel forever nor could Nana and Yoon Sung live with Eun Jung forever. But… when? That was the real question.
__

Nana sat anxiously on her bed the next night. It was midnight and she was waiting for Yoon Sung to give her a call. She was worried already. She was worried about where he was and what he was doing.

As she sat there almost dozing off to sleep, her phone rang. She grabbed it immediately and slid the screen to answer her iPhone. “Yeobosaeyo [Hello – used when answering the phone].”

“Yah, Kim Nana.”

She smiled at the sound of Yoon Sung’s voice and rejoiced internally. “How was the plane ride?”

“It went smoothly. But I hate how they had an excess amount of carrots on the airplane food.” Yoon Sung answered. “We’re going to rest a night and then tomorrow morning, go to our lawyer.”

“You don’t have to rush things! You will have jet lag tomorrow!”

“I really don’t like legal issues. I just want to get it over with.” Yoon Sung sighed. “And plus, there’s a reason why we’re not returning to live in America yet. Someone’s still after me.”

“Who is it that’s after you? Can you please tell me who exactly…?”

There was a pause in their conversation as Yoon Sung thought about his answer. “I don’t even know. It’s someone that has a grudge on father.”

“Well, please stay safe.” Nana said through the phone in concern.

Yoon Sung was getting his luggage with his mother as he talked to Nana on the phone. While getting the luggage, he kept spotting a suspicious couple eyeing him. The couple sat near him on the plane so they were of Korean descent.

He knew they were not just looking around but looking for something. Yoon Sung ignored them, thinking that he was just being paranoid.

He walked with his mother to a taxi that would take them to his house.

As they sat in the cab, Yoon Sung got off of the phone with Nana. While he was looking at the rear view mirror from the back seat of the cab, he couldn’t help but notice the car behind them, which was driven by the male of the same couple eyeing him at the airport. Yoon Sung could feel his suspicion building… who could possibly be following him? It was not the Thai men because they were on the airplane with him from Seoul, so who were they?

“We’re changing our destination. Can you take a turn here real quick? Sorry…” Yoon Sung asked the cab driver in English.

The cab driver sighed in annoyance from the sharp and quick turn. Yoon Sung could see the couple’s car running a stoplight in order to continue following behind their cab. And after witnessing that, Yoon Sung was positive that they were following him. So he asked the irritated cab driver to take yet another quick turn by another stoplight. Although the driver was annoyed, he did what he was instructed when Yoon Sung offered to pay him extra tips.
After a couple of sharp turns and a confused Ahjumma, Yoon Sung had gotten rid of the followers.

“Yoon Sung-ah… what is going on?” Ahjumma asked out of confusion.

“It’s nothing…” Yoon Sung answered as he tipped the cab driver before getting out of the cab carrying both his and his mother’s luggage.

The cab drove away after he had gathered all his belongings into his empty home. Yoon Sung put the luggage down and stretched in exhaustion. “I’m so tired.”

Although Ahjumma was still confused and curious on what the deal was in the cab, she decided to stop bothering his tired son with questions. “Go rest a bit, I’ll make some food.”

“Aniyo [no], Umma!” He placed his hands on his mother’s shoulder from behind and led her into her room. “You must rest too.”

Yoon Sung’s mother smiled at her loving son and placed her hand on his. “Gwaenchanayo [I’m fine]. I slept on the plane and plus you seem hungry. You barely ate on the plane.”

Yoon Sung sighed and agreed to his mother’s plan. “Arasseo [Fine/okay]. I’ll go rest then. But if you’re tired, feel free to rest as well.” He left his mother’s room and into his room.

Yoon Sung collapsed on his bed and stared as his ceiling. For a while, his brain was thoughtless. He was just tired and staring into blank space. Then he turned to his side and realized there was a box in the corner of his room that was un-open. It was the stuff he boxed up to move to America and the box was probably full of things that were not necessities because he was almost completely sure he had unpacked all his boxes by now. He walked over to the box and opened it cautiously; discovering items he had packed that were considered delicate and fragile. As he went through all the items, there was that picture of Nana he had kept for 7 years, some boxes of his accessories, glass decorations, and things he either didn’t want to shatter while moving or were things considered important to him. After unpacking it and putting all the things on the ground, there was one thing that was packed within a smaller box. He thought about his packing procedures when he moved and remembered… it was the iPhone… it was Prosecutor Kim Young Joo’s phone that he had took from the place he had been killed.

Yoon Sung opened it carefully and was about to turn the phone back on… but then he remembered what Doctor Jin Sae Hee had asked him earlier that week. “…by any chance, do you possess Young Joo’s phone?”

Sae Hee deserved to have this phone. He was her husband after all. It was right of her to ask for this phone. But would she believe in him still after he had returned the phone? Would she start suspecting him since he had the phone?

Yoon Sung put the box with the iPhone in it on his nightstand. He was so tired of thinking… of thinking for other people. Right now, what he should be thinking about was his mother’s lawsuit and Nana’s pregnancy. There was no room in his brain for things related to his past identity. He was no longer the City Hunter so he should stop worrying and thinking about his past. The past is the past; the future is what I should be pondering about.

He sighed and grabbed the picture frame with Nana’s picture in it. He looked at the picture and sighed once again. “I hope you’re staying safe in Seoul.” He talked to Nana’s picture for the first time in one year.

There were things Yoon Sung would do anything for and those things were Nana, the child in Nana’s stomach, Ahjussi, and Umma’s welfare and happiness, for his City Hunter identity to be buried away forever, and a promising future. He was ready to let go of his past… but the question was, was the world ready to let go of it too?

Kim Nana & Lee Yoon Sung - Ending Continuation Fanfic - Chapter 13

“Tell me now.” Yoon Sung demanded as they got into their car. “I know something is wrong but you won’t tell me. I can’t take it anymore, what is bothering you to the point where you seem to be ignoring me?”

“It’s not appropriate for me to tell you right now.” Nana looked out the window of the car to avoid eye contact. “Just please drive home and I’ll tell you.”

“Why?

“I don’t want to tell you something so important in such atmosphere and location.”

“What is it, Kim Nana?” Yoon Sung asked her as he pulled out of the parking lot. “Tell me now.”

“I promise, I won’t avoid it once we get home. I promise I’ll tell you.” Nana raised her voice. “Just please respect my wishes. I don’t wish to tell you right now.”

“I’m worried about you! You can’t just ignore me all the time and expect me to be all calm and attentive!” Yoon Sung raised his voice over Nana’s.

“Yoon Sung, just listen to me! Stop worrying! I promise I’ll tell you when we get home! For now, just please stop pestering me.” Nana yelled.

All the yelling was just not healthy for the situation. Yoon Sung knew he had to stop. He had to respect Nana. “Okay.” He sighed. “Promise me you won’t avoid or change the subject once we get home?”

“I promise. I’ll tell you for sure.” Nana said in seriousness.
__

As the couple walked into their apartment, they could hear the water running from the shower in the living room.

“I guess Eun Jung’s home.” Nana said referring to the occupied bathroom.

Yoon Sung stood still as Nana sat down on the couch. His stare on Nana could burn holes onto her eye. “Kim Nana, talk to me.” He then walked over and sat next to her with his stare still penetrating into her eyes.

“Lee Yoon Sung, do you… love me?” Nana didn’t want to ask but she just wanted reassurance.

Yoon Sung laughed a bit and said. “Is that what’s bothering you?”

“No I’m serious. Just answer the question.”

“No.” He laughed. “You know my answer and yet you’re asking.”

“Please just say it. I want to hear it.”

Yoon Sung realized how significant this moment was for Nana and stopped laughing and regained his seriousness before answering. “Yes.” He said looking into Nana’s eyes.

Nana took a deep breath. This is it, no matter what his reaction will be, I need to tell him now. “Lee Yoon Sung, I am pregnant.” Her voice trembled a bit. “And you’re the father.”

Yoon Sung’s eyes widened in shock. His world was spinning and he could feel his heart beat faster and faster. Pregnant? Nana’s Pregnant? My girlfriend Kim Nana is pregnant? A baby? Pregnancy? All he could think of at the moment was the word pregnant and all the connotations that came with it. He felt a strange emotion. It wasn’t happiness or sadness. It wasn’t anger or enthusiasm. It was just a unique feeling he had never felt before. He felt fascinated but at the same time worried, terrified, and excited. He didn’t know what that feeling was. It was as if a specific feeling was designed from such news. He didn’t know how to react or what to say to Nana.

All the vomiting, nauseating, and refusal of alcoholic drinks had all come together in Yoon Sung’s mind. Those were her pregnancy symptoms.

“Yoon Sung…” Nana’s voice was still trembling.

He couldn’t answer her. His own mind was out of control. He didn’t know what to say or do.

“I know we screwed up.” Nana was about to just break down in tears. “But I must say that abortion is definitely not an option here…”

Yoon Sung snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Nana. “Do I look that irresponsible to you?” He responded to her statement. “I will not let such a thing happen.” He looked into her eyes. “And it might be an accident but we did not screw up.”

Nana smiled as a tear rolled down her cheek. All the emotions and anxiety she had been bottling up finally exploded.

Yoon Sung pulled her closer to him and rested her head on his chest while saying nothing else.

Nana spent a couple of minutes just soaking Yoon Sung’s shirt from her tears. She couldn’t understand why she cried so hard and for what exactly she should be crying for. She just needed to cry. She had to let out her fear and everything she felt about her pregnancy and Yoon Sung seemed to understand.

After a few moments, Yoon Sung finally spoke. “When did you find out?”

“This morning.”

Yoon Sung looked at her with seriousness. “I won’t let anything happen to you or our baby. I promise.” He pulled her close again.

Nana nodded and a smile started to plant on her face. “I believe you.”

They stayed in a position of embrace for a while as Nana closed her eyes and felt calmer. Everything will be okay.

Eun Jung, on the other hand, had finished taking a shower and walked out to see such a sight. In her mind she smiled in aw. But for some reason, she felt a strange sense of confusion and jealousy in her heart. She wasn’t sure why she felt that way. She just wanted to have moments like those with someone important to her as well. No matter how outgoing and social she was, sometimes she just wanted a stable relationship with a guy. But from all the guys that she had dated, none of them had ever provided her with a stable relationship. Maybe that’s why she was feeling a sense of jealousy. She wanted a relationship as beautiful as Yoon Sung and Nana’s. She felt like her heart was misplaced and that she needed to find it.

Eun Jung ignored such a silly feeling and just walked towards her room. She was not the type of girl to want things that lasted long. She liked change and boyfriends were no exception. So why did she all of a sudden mind lacking those true loving moments? She didn’t need them.

Nana heard Eun Jung walking into her room so she immediately pulled away. She hated displaying affection in front of people, except on special occasion like birthdays. Holding hands or an arm around her shoulder was fine, but an intimate embrace was something she wanted to keep to themselves. “Oh hi, Eun Jung.” Nana said. “You’re home early today. You usually don’t come home until we have gone to bed.”

“Yeah, I know.” Eun Jung replied. “I’m sorry for ruining the moment… you guys can continue if you want…” She walked away into her room nonchalantly.

“I’m going to take a shower.” Yoon Sung spoke and went into their room to get his pajamas.

“Okay.” Nana shrugged and continued to sit on the couch. “By the way, Yoon Sung… I’m really glad you took the news positively. Thank you.”

What news? Eun Jung thought to herself as she overheard Nana talking from her room. The apartment was small and everything that was said in the living room would be heard.

Out of curiosity, Eun Jung decided to walk out to the living room and talk to Nana for a bit. “Unni...” She saw Nana playing a game on her iPhone while sitting on the couch after Yoon Sung had locked the door the bathroom to take a shower.

“Eun Jung?” Nana looked up.

“How are you feeling right now? Are you still sick?” Eun Jung sat down next to her cousin.

“Oh I’m okay now.”

“Did you go to the doctor’s office? Because you were pretty nauseous and pale. It seemed like something significant…”

“I went to the doctor’s… but not for that reason.” Nana smiled.

Eun Jung knew she was cooking up a good conversation. She could finally get some information. “So do you mind telling me the reason why you visited the doctor’s?”

“Eun Jung-ah… promise not to judge me?” Nana requested. “I know that sounded pathetic. I meant can you please take the news in a bit more open minded way…”

“Sure…” Eun Jung knew something very very significant was building up in the conversation. Nana was about to tell her something very important.

Nana paused for a long moment and then opened her mouth to speak. “I’m pregnant.” She said with very neutral emotion.

Eun Jung gaped in shock… Nana… pregnant? It had never occurred to her that her very conservative and naïve cousin would end up pregnant so soon and unmarried…
__

“I have findings.” Eun Jung announced as she walked into the prosecution office the next afternoon.

“What is it?” Kim Mi Ok was eager to know.

Both Prosecutor Jang and Jang Pil Jae rushed out hearing such exciting news. “We want to know… now.”

Eun Jung took a long pause and took a deep breath knowing how important this must’ve been for Nana, she wanted to express it in a significant way as well. “Kim Nana is pregnant.”

Eun Jung had conflicting feelings upon hearing about Nana’s pregnancy. One, it would alter the plan and affect her emotionally. Second, she felt excited for Nana too even though she was not the one pregnant. Nana was her cousin and her cousin’s good news was her good news.

The room was filled with silence and Kim Mi Ok was speechless, knowing her niece was pregnant with a man she had harbored hatred for.

“Nana… is… pregnant?” Kim Mi Ok asked with wide eyes.

Eun Jung sighed. “Yes.” She wasn’t sure if it was a blessing or an obstacle for Nana to be pregnant.

“Despite her pregnancy, we still have to carry on the investigation.” Prosecutor Jang said firmly. “Just because a bystander is pregnant doesn’t change our investigation.”

Eun Jung looked at him and then looked away quickly. “Carry on? I don’t know if I can do it.”

“What do you mean?” Prosecutor Jang raised his voice.

“Nana’s my cousin whom I love very much because she’s family.” Eun Jung explained. “If we continue to investigate and find evidence on the arrest of Lee Yoon Sung as the City Hunter, there would be so many charges on him, he may end up in prison for years if he ends up being pled guilty.”

“So? That’s what you’re here for! To help us find evidence on his identity as the City Hunter!”

“Kim Nana is my cousin and this will affect her!”

“Didn’t you already know from the start? No matter what if Lee Yoon Sung is guilty of his illegal charges, Kim Nana will lose him!”

Eun Jung was about to break down in tears. She was torn between family loyalty and justice. Was justice really worth tearing two inseparable lovers apart? Was it worth hurting Nana so deeply? If Yoon Sung became guilty, Nana would have to raise her child without him for a long period of time, and maybe even for life. Although she already knew her purpose in investigating and knew very well about the consequences Nana would face if Lee Yoon Sung does get convicted of his crimes, however, after living with them and seeing how much they loved each other, Eun Jung started to become a bit unsure. But she just kept convincing herself on how Yoon Sung was a dangerous man and Nana deserved someone better anyway. Now though, she was completely unsure. And there was no convincing of herself. Nana’s pregnancy had completely gotten into her head. If Lee Yoon Sung got prosecuted, Nana would be so devastated. And the child would grow up without a father.

“You might feel guilty right now because of her sudden pregnancy. But after some thinking and time, you won’t feel bad anymore. Just think about it, do you really want to give up on this? You are a prosecutor, and prosecutors serve justice no matter the circumstance.”

Prosecutor Jang reminded her of her profession. “You work for justice and law.”

Eun Jung didn’t know what to say. There was nothing she could say right now. Nothing she could say to make herself feel better. Nothing to say that wouldn’t trigger an argument with Prosecutor Jang. She looked over at her Aunt, Kim Mi Ok to see her reaction. Kim Mi Ok had a shocked expression on her face still. After all, Kim Mi Ok was Nana’s aunt.

“Take some time to think things through.” Jang Pil Jae suggested. “I’m sure you will not regret continuing the investigation.”
__

For much of the day Eun Jung just walked around the city aimlessly. The air was cold now outside and she could see the smoke effect from her breath as she sighed.

“Oettoke [What should I do now]…” She looked behind her as water splashed slightly on her coat to find a lit up fountain. The fountain was pumped through the ground and slightly lit from the night. It was cold and already night and as she watched people walk, she saw many couples. They reminded her of Nana and Yoon Sung, which eventually led her to thinking about herself. How could she tear a couple apart? Tear a family apart? Make a child fatherless?

Eun Jung stood there for a couple of minutes and minutes turned into more minutes and she didn’t want to go home. She didn’t want to face Yoon Sung and Nana. She didn’t want to believe reality. She didn’t want to look at the couple and feel bad. But she didn’t want to give up on justice. If Lee Yoon Sung really did cause Prosecutor Kim Young Joo’s death, there would be a long sentence to serve. What would Nana do? WillI really feel good about serving justice?

No matter how dangerous Lee Yoon Sung was, he was still Nana’s boyfriend. And in Nana’s eyes he must be a good man. So shouldn’t Eun Jung try to see the same?

Just as Eun Jung was thinking about Yoon Sung, he appeared near her. They made eye contact for a brief moment and Yoon Sung smiled slightly and walked over. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh I just happened to have stopped here.” Eun Jung answered. “What are you doing here?”

Yoon Sung liked to visit the fountain when he thought about Nana and when he was dealing with thoughts about Nana as well. For some reason, the fountain reminded him of Nana and the things they have been through. “I’m just here to think about certain things.”

Eun Jung nodded and continued to stand in silence. She couldn’t face Yoon Sung after pondering what she would end up doing to him. She started to feel like a villain that would betray their loyalty. But then another side of her would remind her, You work for the law. When people break laws, it doesn’t matter who they are, they are held accountable for it.

“I never thought I would say this but…” Yoon Sung said. “I’m sorry for being such a jerk before. I just couldn’t let go of certain things in my past. And now that Nana’s pregnant, I know I’m going to need your help on taking care of her.”

“Oh so you’re just trying to get me to help you, that’s why you’re all nice to me now…” She joked but on the inside, she was breaking down.

“No really. I don’t like apologizing nor do I like to say things like this but I feel like if we live under the same roof, I would probably need your help sometimes. I don’t want my selfishness to affect Nana’s life. And you’re her cousin so I want to get along.”

“That’s only what I’ve been trying to do for the past months…” Eun Jung muttered.

“Yeah whatever.” Yoon Sung laughed.

“Can I ask you a question?”

“What is it?” Yoon Sung looked over.

“Do you think you deserve Nana?”

“I don’t deserve anyone.”

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t like putting people in danger.” Yoon Sung answered stoically. “But I’ve slowly learned to let go and let my guard down.”

Eun Jung didn’t understand exactly what he meant by that. But she knew it had something to do with his identity as the City Hunter. She didn’t want to ask. Because she knew very well, she wouldn’t get an answer for it. “You know… I really admire Nana.” She said. “I would like to think what I’m doing is what’s best for her.”

Yoon Sung thought about her statement and wondered, “Now, what do you mean?”

“Well… I sometimes wonder if you’re the right man for her.” She answered. “Nana might look strong but she’s actually much more fragile than anyone. The strongest people are just the better actors. But inside they’re just the same. Nana especially… she had been scarred from her parent’s death. She had lived alone since then. And since then, she had focused so much on her father’s medical bills; there was no life for her to live. She drowned under debt and multiple jobs… she is just exhausted by now.” Eun Jung sighed. “I remember when we were kids, Nana always loved showing off her Judo attacks. She was very cute but yet very bold. Nana was the opposite of me. I was very delicate and social. I admire Nana a lot. She gave up a normal teenage-hood for jobs and bills. I think she deserves someone who’s stable financially and mentally. She also deserves someone she can depend on and someone she could always count on being there for her. I hope you’re the type of guy I just described. I really hope so.”

Eun Jung wanted to see Yoon Sung in Nana’s light. She wanted to know his greatness after knowing about the other side of him that Prosecutor Jang would talk about. There was more to a person than just being a criminal. Just like his identity as the City Hunter, he might’ve broken laws, but he was breaking laws to do things for people the government couldn’t; things that couldn’t be solved so easily because of the law.

Which direction was truly right to head for? Justice or emotions? Head or heart?

Sorry for such a long wait! I was really busy this past week! I hope this long wait will not happen again. I'm so sorry.

This has barely and YS/NN moments and is mainly Eun Jung-centric. I needed this chapter to build my storyline.

Thanks for all the comments last chapter! I appreciate it very much! Please comment on this chapter as well! Tell me what you think of it!

Kim Nana & Lee Yoon Sung - Ending Continuation Fanfic - Chapter 12

“Kim Nana ssi?”

“Yes.” Nana answered the doctor.

The doctor walked into the small room of the hospital with a folder.

“Everything will be okay.” Ahjumma assured Nana, held her hand and smiled.

“Okay, are you ready for the news?” The doctor asked Nana seriously and looked into her eyes.

“I’m ready.” Nana took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she held the charm of the diamond heart necklace Yoon Sung had bought her in her hand, this provided her with confidence, hope, and security.

“Congratulations, you are three weeks pregnant.”

There had only been two times in her life when someone’s words had carved right into her heart. This time, and the time someone told her that her parents were dead.

She didn’t know if she should be happy or sad or excited. She wanted to be happy about it because it was a good thing. But she wanted to be sad about it because unfortunately, this was the wrong timing with something celebrative. But she couldn’t feel either emotion. She was just frozen. She felt like she was frozen in time. She felt like she had made a mistake but at the same time she was so fascinated with a life growing inside of her. She touched her stomach and back to her necklace again. This is my creation. This is our creation. This is Yoon Sung’s and my creation.

That was not enough of a reassurance. She needed Yoon Sung to tell her everything would be okay. Would Yoon Sung get angry? What if he breaks up with me? What if he wants an abortion? What is going to happen now?

Nana didn’t know how to break such news to Yoon Sung. This was fate altering and life changing. It was not just a situation or a dilemma they had to solve. This child would open a whole new door for them and all of a sudden it seemed like Nana’s life had gone out of track. She had always dreamed of getting married, and then having kids. But because of their carelessness, all of her imaginations of a perfect future had gone down hill. She felt like she was stuck in a crossroad. She was stuck. She was clueless. She was not ready to be a mother. And she was not ready to nurture a child that would soon mean the world to her.

At that moment, Nana just wanted everything to be back to the way it was. To the days when Yoon Sung was just her coworker. No, that would be too painful to go through again. Her rejected feelings and his fake playboy acts. And her constant worries on his safety. She wanted to go back to the days when she was struggling to pay hospital bills, those days when she was a replacement drive. She had never craved for those days so much. She wanted to go back to before she had met Yoon Sung, before she had given up her life for him. Before she had fallen into the trap of temptation and love. Before she had slept with him. Before she had became attracted to him. Before she made him his first cup of coffee that turned cold. She just wanted to rewind time and save the life inside of her to have such a careless mother who was not ready for its arrival onto Earth. She was harming the baby. She knew abortion was out of the question, and adoption would be too painful. She knew she had to take responsibility for something she had started. Something she and Yoon Sung had started.

How could my life turn upside down so fast in a year? Nana would have never thought about even getting married a year ago, much less becoming a mother before marriage. She was so deep in thought, she didn’t even notice Ahjumma answering her phone.

After the appointment had ended, Nana was still very dumbfounded from all that had happened to her. Ahjumma hailed a taxi for the two of them and after they had gotten into the car, Ahjumma broke the silence. “Nana-ah… don’t feel too bad about this.” She put her arms on Nana’s shoulders. “I was in the same situation as you years ago.”

Nana looked at Ahjumma with her empty eyes and found slight comfort.

“I was pregnant with Yoon Sung when I was in my twenties. I was not a married woman either. In fact, I did not even have a boyfriend or any type of devoted partner.” Ahjumma told her story. “I worked at a bar. I was looked down on. When I found out I was pregnant, I was happy for a moment but then realized my identity… I was just a woman that worked at a bar and was just a mistress of a powerful man. I thought about it more and realized how important his image was and how my child, our child, would affect him negatively. And after realizing those things, I knew I made a horrible mistake.” Ahjumma continued. “Although I was in a similar situation as you are in right now, there are some major differences that completely differs your situation from mine positively and significantly. Yoon Sung loves you. He loves you a lot. Shik Joong had told me that before he had even met you, he had a picture of you that he would talk to. And for 7 years, that was his main motivation at MIT. He thought you were pretty and living well in Seoul. Yoon Sung will love you no matter what. He had loved you before even having met you. When I was pregnant, I couldn’t receive unconditional love. I didn’t have someone that was devoted to me. But you, Nana, are a woman with dignity. I pleased clients at bars when I was pregnant. You are a woman with respect and a woman that receives respect.”

“It’s still a horrible mistake though.” Nana wanted to stay strong. She didn’t want to cry. But she couldn’t help it. A tear rolled down her face. She wiped it away nonchalantly. Although she was still shocked by her pregnancy, hearing about how she was Yoon Sung’s motivation for 7 years had made her heart flutter a little bit. “And Ahjumma, you are a very respectable woman. You are the greatest mother figure I’ve ever had besides my own mother who had unfortunately passed away when I was young.”

“When people grow old, we become more respectable.” Ahjumma smiled. “When I was young, I had no limits. I worked so many different jobs. From bars to restaurants to clubs. I did everything I could to try to earn enough money to support my child, thinking I would be raising it alone… until I met Mu Yeol.” She referred to the man that accepted her pregnancy and even decided to marry her and raise Yoon Sung as his own child. “But Nana, you’re different. Yoon Sung will love you no matter what. And you don’t have to find someone to accept you like I did. You will be accepted. And plus, in today’s society, pregnancy before marriage isn’t as shameful anymore. You will be okay.”

Nana nodded slightly. “Ahjumma, can you do me a favor?”

“Of course.” Ahjumma smiled at Nana. “What is it?”

“Don’t tell Yoon Sung about my pregnancy.” Nana said. “I want to tell him myself.”

Ahjumma nodded and smiled once again.

Everything will be okay.
__

For the rest of the day, Nana couldn’t face Yoon Sung straight without having millions of thoughts running through her head at once. She couldn’t tell him. She was too afraid to. Even with Ahjumma’s assurance, she was still scared. She was too stubborn to listen.

She could tell Yoon Sung was getting a bit irritated. Which was making matters worse. If she told him now, it would make him more irritated, right? Or so Nana thought.

“I went by Sae Hee’s clinic this morning when you were out.” Yoon Sung told Nana. “She wanted to have dinner with us tonight.”

Nana had talked to Sae Hee unni [an older female or older sister] a few times after the death of prosecutor Kim Young Joo. Sae Hee unni had always been smart, calm, and kind. She handled his death pretty calmly. Nana remembered that unni was a mess for a few days, but she slowly got back on her feet and decided to get back to work. Ever since, Nana hadn’t contacted her.

Nana nodded and there was silence between them again.

Yoon Sung had been feeling awkward for the past two days. Nana had been so distant. She barely talked to him. He thought about why Nana had been acting this way. He’d ask her what was wrong but all he got for an answer was, “I’m still kind of sick.”

He tried to force an answer out of Nana but it just didn’t work these times. She would just walk away and make no eye contact with him. Yoon Sung knew something serious must be bothering Nana. And he thought hard. He decided maybe it was because Nana wanted to get a job. He was protecting her too much. He had been trying to argue against her on getting a job. Since they don’t know how long they would be staying here in Seoul, it was reasonable for Nana to get a part time job. “Kim Nana… I was thinking, I know I’ve always argued against you getting a job, but if you really wanted to, you can get a job… I’m honestly not trying to control you…”

Nana laughed pitifully to herself. Even if I wanted to, it’s not appropriate for me to get one now. “Yoon Sung… I can’t.”

“What do you mean?”

At least the subject of pregnancy seemed to be creeping up in their conversation. Maybe this would be an easy way to break the news to Yoon Sung… “Yoon Sung… I…” Nana took a deep breath. “I…” Although she was to the first to confess her feelings in their relationship, announcing a pregnancy was just different. All her confidence and bravery seemed to have evaporated into thin air. When it came to something as life changing as her pregnancy, she couldn’t say it as easy as she would tell Yoon Sung how much she liked him.

As Nana took a deep breath again and was about to pronounce the words, I am pregnant, Yoon Sung’s phone rang. And Nana was stopped. She barely opened her mouth. She had missed this opportunity.

“Yeoboseyo [Hello – used when answering the phone].” Yoon Sung said into his iPhone.

“Yoon Sung-ah…” Yoon Sung’s mother said through the phone.

“Umma [mom]…”

“I need to tell you something very important.” Ahjumma said seriously.

“What’s wrong, umma?”

“I got a call today from one of my employees at the restaurant. She told me that a man and a woman had both filed a complaint for my restaurant. They had reportedly gotten food poisoning from my food. They are looking into a lawsuit.”

Yoon Sung put his hand to his forehead in frustration. Just as he was able to get his mother to come back to Seoul, things start falling apart in the United States. But he expected it. After all, it was a new restaurant and he wasn’t planning on staying in Seoul for too long; just until he got a word from a fellow Thai friend of his. He contacted a friend he had in Thailand for help. His friend’s mother use to work for father at the Triangle. His friend had a lot of insight on the different men who were involved in the drug trade. So he found out for him about the man who was searching for Yoon Sung’s father. The man was the leader of a gang of drug dealers. They have always had a trade agreement with Father and his drugs.

However, father decided to end it all of a sudden which caused his gang to collapse with drug sales and eventually a lot of his followers, who were drug dealers, had had to leave the industry.

The leader got so angry, he finally decided to find Yoon Sung’s father. He wanted to find him and kill him for his money and land. However, since father was dead, they would be after Yoon Sung. Men who were involved in the drug dealing industry were all reckless. The leaders all have money and were angered easily. Yoon Sung learned that at a young age. If you messed with them, they would try to completely tear your life apart. They would kill anyone related to their enemy. That was how Father would act too.

“I have to return to New York to take care of this.” Yoon Sung’s mom spoke.

Yoon Sung couldn’t just let his mother go back alone. She knew limited English and couldn’t drive. And Ahjussi wasn’t reliable enough for dealing with lawsuits and complaints. That meant Yoon Sung would have to go back with her. “I’ll go back with you as soon as I can get a plane ticket.”

“You don’t have to go back with me, Nana needs you.”

“Nana’s cousin, Eun Jung, lives with us. It would be fine. And Nana had been living alone since she was a teenager anyway.”

Yoon Sung’s mother sighed through the phone. Nana hadn’t told him yet. “Why don’t you take Nana with you then?”

“I can’t just leave the house with Eun Jung. It feels unsafe. She’s never home. But I suppose I can take Nana with me if I want to. But why? It’s going to be quick. We just need to settle the complaint with some money before they get into a lawsuit. And also, I don’t want to put her in unnecessary danger.”

Ahjumma didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to break the news to Yoon Sung herself. It was Nana’s responsibility and Nana even insisted on telling Yoon Sung by herself. She couldn’t say anything but to agree with her son’s plan. “Okay. I guess it would work out.”

“Okay. I’ll get plane tickets as soon as possible.” Yoon Sung hung up. “Bye, umma.”

“Yoon Sung ssi! Nana!” Sae Hee stood up from her chair and greeted her friends.

“Unni…” Nana gave her a hug.

As the three of them sat down at the round dinner table at a fancy western restaurant, Sae Hee was the first to talk. “How have you two been?”

“We’ve been doing well.” Nana answered. “What about you?” Nana was so glad Sae Hee was there in between their awkwardness. Her mind was at ease for a little bit… at least until the dinner was over.

“The clinic’s business is pretty good. I’ve been concentrating a lot on my passion for animals right now ever since Young Joo’s death.” Sae Hee pasued. There was silence. It would have been rude to change the subject after the Prosecutor’s death had been brought up in the conversation. “But I’m okay. I’m done mourning for his death. I actually started to see it as a good thing for him. He is now in a better place, without the stress of his job and he’ll be able to watch over everyone. He had always wanted to know what his suspects were doing, and now he can watch over everyone.” Sae Hee chuckled.

Nana laughed a bit seeing that Sae Hee was being light hearted about the subject. “I’m glad you’re happy now.”

“I’m okay.” Sae Hee smiled. “How are you, Yoon Sung ssi?”

Yoon Sung had kept quiet seeing Nana so happy. He didn’t want to ruin her cheerfulness.

“Just settling some things and starting a new life.” He answered.

“That’s good to hear.” Sae Hee turned her attention back to Nana. “By the way, Nana, Blackie [the dog Nana had in City Hunter], is still in my clinic, you want him back, right?”

“Oh yes! I completely forgot about my dear Blackie!” Nana grinned and said enthusiastically. “Of course, I’d take him back!”

The whole time Yoon Sung was just pondering about his mistakes. What had he done wrong? Why was Nana being so distant to him but acted normal with Sae Hee?

“Come by any time to get him. He’s waiting for you!” Sae Hee said.

As they ordered food and waited for the food, Sae Hee would talk to Nana and occasionally ask Yoon Sung some things. However, Yoon Sung kept quiet for most of the time.

After a while, the food arrived, Nana felt strangely nauseous again. She could smell something that didn’t sit well with her. She looked over at Sae Hee’s dish and saw that it was fish. Fish… Nana could smell it. And fish was one of the things that would make her throw up, even just the smell. Nana could feel it, she was about to throw up. Before she puked all over the table, she excused herself quickly. “Excuse me, I need to…” She got up and almost ran to the restroom.

Yoon Sung looked at her with concern as Sae Hee looked at Yoon Sung in confusion.

“Is Nana okay?” Sae Hee asked.

“I don’t know… she’s been sick lately.”

They sat in silence for a little bit until Sae Hee broke the silence. “I was wondering… by any chance, do you possess Young Joo’s phone?”

Yoon Sung widened his eyes a little bit from surprise. He did. He had taken his phone after he died. Yoon Sung hadn’t given it to anyone.

“No one could find his phone at the crime scene. It wasn’t in his pockets either. And the phone was something that might have evidence in and also something I would like to keep even if it won’t contribute to the crime.”

“Why do you think I’d have his phone?” Yoon Sung asked her skeptically.

“I was thinking for a long time and realized before he left me for his work when I was in the hospital, he muttered, ‘City Hunter’, after reading a text and telling me he had to go. I’m trying not to suspect you for anything because I know you’re a good man. But I was curious on if you have seen Young Joo before his death?” Sae Hee asked again. “I’m trying hard not to suspect you, Yoon Sung ssi.”

Yoon Sung looked down but before he could answer, Nana came back.

“I’m sorry, guys. I’ve been a little sick for the past few days, but I’m getting better.”

“Oh it’s fine.” Sae Hee said. “Do you know how you got sick?”

“Um… I think it was that day I ate some street food…” Nana lied. “You know me… I eat everything…”

Yoon Sung looked over at Nana thoughtfully. He knew Nana was lying from the way she said things. She was definitely hiding something from him and he needed to find out… as soon as possible.

Please read~

Hey everyone! Okay, so I know the last chapter caused some controversy over the "Abstinence before marriage" belief. And how Nana wouldn't ever act in that way and how sleeping around before marriage was not respectful and how my story is getting messed up etc... Okay, just to clarify, I spend a lot of time planning and writing this fanfiction, so saying my story is "messed up" is a bit offensive. However, the other stuff, I do understand where that might come from. Again, I'm sorry if you believe in "abstinence before marriage" and you no longer want to read the Fanfic. I understand, and I respect your beliefs.

But I will not change the way this story is planned. I have spent too much time planning it out in detail for me to change it now. As a writer, it would take the joy out of writing this fanfic.

I tried to get the characters as close to their original characters in City Hunter as possible, but Nana is a really really hard character to grasp. Yoon Sung is a bit easier but still can be challenging because I don't want to make him too attentive since he's not that type of guy. But I don't want to make him a misogynist/sexist and controlling jerk since he's not that extreme. So It can get a bit hard. Anyway, thanks for supporting the Fanfic by commenting and giving reactions :) I really appreciate it!

Also, I actually re-watched parts of City Hunter to make sure my information was accurate. In City Hunter episode 19 at around 00:47 - 00:49, the prosecutor does mutter 'City Hunter' and Sae Hee does hear it. Yoon Sung indeed did take the Prosecutor's phone. And also, the dog's name is indeed Blackie from the subs I had. Yoon Sung mentioned it in episode 9.

Please comment, and thank you very much~
Happy Thanksgiving to those in the United States!
